The work I do, is work I do because of who I am being.
The work I do, I do because I cannot not do it.
When I do, because I am chasing value for others, chances are I will loose myself in the process.
When I do, because I cannot not do, I find and discover more of me in the process.
I do not do the work I do, because it will provide value to others.
I do the work I do, and it will provide value to others.
Subtle difference perhaps, but significant for me. What about you?
A subtle, monumental difference indeed! Doing work from the depth of my own true being can only support others in genuine, authentic ways. It cannot work that the only way I can serve you is to be disingenuous to myself–“Mi rifiuto di vivere una vita che non mi coinvolga.” I refuse to live a life that doesn’t have me in it.
I love that quote – and what pretty Italian at that (I think…)!
